Sleeping Better Than a Baby!

Sleeping like a baby sounds great. But, in actuality, babies tend to wake every couple of hours and cry 😉 I don’t think that’s what we are going for! Rather, sleep better than a baby.

March is National Sleep Awareness Month and it’s seems the perfect time to focus on our zzzzzz!

We live in a society that seems to reward hustle culture and bragging about how exhausted we are seems to win us a prize of some sort. The Queen of The Most Exhausted. No thanks!

Being sleep-deprived and exhausted decreases our moods and our ability to think clearly, heightens our reactivity and emotions and doesn’t allow our bodies and brains to restore. It increases inflammation and decreases our immunity. Not a sexy look.

Here are several compelling reasons why you want to be best friends with your bed and learn how to get great sleep.

Sleep: A Great Detox

During sleep, is when the brain consolidates memories, processes emotions, and clears away toxins accumulated throughout the day. Lack of sleep can impair cognitive abilities, leading to difficulties in concentration, memory retention, and decision-making. By making our sleep a priority, we enhance mental clarity, creativity, and problem-solving skills, enabling us to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and resilience. Trust me, it’s way easier to get through the day with mental clarity (not derived from constant caffeine ingestion!)

Sleep: Feeling Strong and Vibrant

Sleep is essential for the repair and rejuvenation of the body. It is during sleep that tissues are repaired, muscles are rebuilt, and the immune system is strengthened. Chronic sleep deprivation has been linked to a myriad of health issues, including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and weakened immune function.

Sleep: More Joy & Gratitude

Quality sleep plays a pivotal role in emotional regulation and resilience. Adequate sleep regulates mood hormones, such as serotonin and cortisol, helping to maintain emotional balance and stability. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, can exacerbate stress, anxiety, and depression, leaving us vulnerable to emotional turmoil. By prioritizing restorative sleep, we cultivate inner peace, emotional resilience, and a greater capacity for joy and gratitude.

Sleep: Mood Booster

Quality sleep contributes to better stress management, improved mood stability, and enhanced overall psychological resilience while chronic sleep deprivation is associated with an increased risk of mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. By getting enough sleep, we foster a healthier relationship with ourselves, nurturing a sense of self-compassion, acceptance, and inner harmony, which in turn flows outwards to our day, friends, family and others we interact with

Plus - does’t it just feel amazing to wake up refreshed, mind clear and energy for the day?
